The Mellon Program on Urbanization and Migration (PUM) at Princeton University's Office of Population Research promotes international research and collaboration between OPR and affiliated demography centers in Cuba, South Africa, Colombia and Thailand. The visiting fellows program provides access to all of the resources available to OPR research affiliates, including fully equipped offices, excellent computing environment, library, and demography seminars. Summer research competitions strengthen intellectual outreach to pre-doctoral students and faculty colleagues at Rutgers University and other units within Princeton. PUM nurtures the development of migration research in developing countries by sponsoring dissertation field research projects for young investigators in Africa, Latin America and Thailand. Co-sponsored conferences at Princeton promote comparative research on the informal sector. Principal investigator Marta Tienda has administered the Mellon Program on Urbanization and Migration since 2000.
